Comment Policy

First things first: I love comments and appreciate the time that any reader spends to share ideas and give feedback. Especially if it’s a correction that allows me to learn. Thank you to everyone who comments on this site.

Nonetheless, I also want comments to be as useful as possible to all readers. While the vast, vast majority of comments are fine, I might have to remove or edit these:

  • Comments deemed to be spam or solely promotional in nature: Including a link to relevant content is permitted and encouraged, but comments should be relevant to the post topic. If a comment is solely promotional in nature, it will be removed from the site. Especially if it is unsolicited.
  • Harassing comments of no value: I have a deep respect for free speech, but I recognize that sometimes comments won’t always be as friendly or productive as we might like. Conversations and the sharing or challenging of different ideas is encouraged, but we reserve to right to remove certain comments if they are solely based on harassment and lack any intelligible value. This may also include abusive, threatening, pornographic, misleading or libelous language. In other words, being snarky is fine as long we all learn something from it.
  • Excessive profanities: For the sake of a more pleasant environment, please keep comments within what would be normal for a causal, polite conversation at a bar. Regarding what bar, I’ll leave that purposely ambiguous.

Finally, we reserve the right to edit or remove any comments from the site without notice, though we do not take that right lightly. Please leave comments that are respectful and useful (with the emphasis on useful), and we’ll all be better for it.

This comment policy is subject to change at any time. If you have any questions on the commenting policy, please let us know.
