“The Gods of the Copybook Headings” is a short poem Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) wrote in 1919. It contains “age-old, unfashionable wisdom” that Kipling saw as forgotten by society and replaced by “habits of wishful thinking.”

It can be found in the book Prophetic Verse,  within which you can find a collection of his best words. It includes many of his impressive classics.
