Automotive Battery Voltage Indicator for Lithium & Lead-Acid Batteries – Guide

Last updated on December 9th, 2018

Nothing sucks more than turning your ignition key…only for nothing to happen. Well, almost nothing. It goes head-to-head with having to repair a flat tire on the go. The best way to avoid a dead battery is to check its voltage every once in a while. There are a few ways to make that job a bit easier. One interesting option I’ve found recently is the JS-8T Battery Voltage Indicator. What makes it pretty unique is that it’s compatible with any battery chemistry, including Lithium and Lead-Acid. That makes it perfect for cars, motorcycles and RC devices alike. Plus, it sure beats having to dust-off your jumper cables.

D-Rings vs Quick-Release buckles: Are helmet D-Rings Safer?

Last updated on December 10th, 2018

Many motorcycle riders take as gospel that helmet D-rings vs Quick-Release buckles, D-Rings are infinitely safer. But is that true? Namely, are quick-release buckles less safe than D-Rings? I won’t deny that helmet buckle D-Rings are absolutely tried-and-true. However, that doesn’t mean that Quick-Releases are an inferior choice. The question is, is one sacrificing safety for commodity with helmet Quick-Releases? I was skeptical about that. Given the lack of any proof either way, I thought I’d put it to the test.

This all began after installing a DIY quick-release buckle on my helmet. A few emails and tests later, I found some very interesting results. While this post is far from scientific or rigorous (and shouldn’t be taken as such), it does provide some casual insight. If you’ve ever been curious about how helmet D-rings vs quick-release buckles compare safety-wise, keep reading.

Motorcycle Helmet Lock: Anti-Theft Tether Cable

Motorcycle Helmet Lock: Anti-Theft Tether Cable

Last updated on December 10th, 2018

Oh, the beauties of motorcycling and biking. While riding on two wheels is among life’s best pleasures, arriving to your destination with several pounds of gear to store most certainly is not. This guide is going to illustrate my custom motorcycle helmet lock. It’s the best way to securely tether your helmet, jacket or other gear to your bike or motorcycle. To boot, it’s quick and cheap to make, and can be custom-made for any gear, lock, bike, or situation.

You can even use the same technique to make a security tether for a Go Pro action camera, to crimp high amperage battery lug cable terminals, to make stainless steel rope balcony barriers, or heavy-duty load bearing slings. It really is an awesome and versatile thing to be able to make and skill to have, so I’m sure that you’ll find plenty of future uses for it.

Difficulty: Easy
Tool Level: Basic-Intermediate
Time: 1 Hour
Cost: 5$

But now your hands are full of grease and heavy-duty degreaser is nowhere to be found. Or you have to jump-start your car. Or bandage a bad cut on a coworker. You may even be reminiscing that roadside tire change last week where this would have been a lifesaver. Having a compact, portable set of compact gloves close by is way more convenient than having to clean up afterwards.
